Report: Kia’s full-size luxury sedan to come stateside as the K900

In a marketing experiment to see how well Kia will fare in the luxury market, in the same way that sister company Hyundai is attempting with the current Equus, a report from AutomotiveNews says dealerships were told to prepare for a launch of the brand’s K9 full-size luxury sedan, currently sold in South Korea and elsewhere as the Kia Quoris.

The model will come to the US as the K900, which will feature lots of advanced safety tech, luxury features, and 420hp to run up against the full-size luxury leaders from Japan and Europe. The 420hp will be served up by Hyundai’s 5.0L Tau V8 while a 3.8L V6 from the Hyundai Genesis, with 290hp, will also provide forward motion.

The car is set to debut and launch in early 2014 while Kia is also reportedly preparing a TV advertising spot barrage for next year’s Super Bowl competition.
