Report: Volvo and Geely agree to build flagship luxury sedan, internally dubbed “S100”

Word in the pipeline via Chinese automobile outlet, auto.sohu.com, is that Volvo and Geely have come to an agreement to develop an all-new flagship model, dubbed the “S100.” This said flagship model will take the form of a full-size luxury sedan to run up against the BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class, Audi A8, and so on.

It will apparently ride on an elongated version of the next-generation S80’s platform and will be assembled at Volvo’s new factor in Chengdu.

Despite stiff competition from the already well-established full-size luxury automakers, Volvo plans to have China as its primary market for the range-topper.
