Mercedes-Benz has a very rich and grandiose history that absolutely nobody can ignore. It is often said that if anyone wanted a clear vision as to what the automobile industry has in store in terms of innovation, the go-to pinnacle was always the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
To explain how crucial of a legacy the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is to society and the automobile, Mercedes-Benz of USA put together a nice eight-minute video showcasing some of the highlights of the seven generations of Mercedes-Benz S-Class flagships, even reaching as far as the preceding “Ponton” and “Fintail” flagships from the 1950s, and how all of that has led to the development and cultivation of the latest W222 2014 S-Class.

Interestingly enough, the video left out four generations of S-Class in the spotlight, including the two crucial W126 and W140 generation S-Classes from the 1980s and 1990s, who brought a very extensive list of technology innovations to the industry, many of which have been standardized today, such as traction and stability control, standard passenger and driver airbags and accompanying supplemental restraint systems (SRS), anti-lock brakes, and many many more. And those innovations in themselves are integral to the legacy of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class.
Either way, feel free to check out the video spot after the jump.
