Report: Next gen Nissan GT-R due as 2016 model, could be a hybrid
MotorTrend reports that Nissan’s next generation Godzilla sports car, the GT-R, will be due in 2015 as a 2016 model, after speaking to a Nissan rep.
The current GT-R production, which was the first ever version officially available for the North American market, has been around since 2009. That said, by the time the new generation is said to be revealed, the current model will have been around for almost six years.

While the current model is powered by a potent 3.8L hand-build twin-turbocharged V6 good for 545hp, rumor has it that Nissan might resort to a hybrid powertrain for the next model, considering the arrival of the Acura NSX, another hybrid sports car.
Though due to the impending death of the current Nissan GT-R, a last-hoorah model variant is expected to surface sometime in the near future.
