Report: Details emerge on the next generation Chevrolet Corvette Z06, the Z07

The latest Chevrolet Corvette is out and it has made quite the statement already. But of course, considering all of the variants spawned in the last “C6” generation, many of us auto enthusiasts and diehard Corvette lovers are wondering, what the hell is next for examples like the Z06 and the ZR1?

Well, CARandDRIVER received the scoop on what’s next for the Z06, which will rather unsurprisingly be upgraded to the name, Z07. Though unfortunately, a ZR1 successor isn’t expected until later in the C7’s production cycle, if even at all.

Much like the soon-to-be outgoing Z06, the new Z07 will most likely carry on the mission of being the most track-focused Corvette from the get-go. The current Z06 dons GM’s Magnetic Selective Ride Control, top-spec tires, less weight, serious aerodynamic upgrades, upgraded suspension and cooling, Brembo clamps, and one potent 7.0L LS7 V8.

Though there are high chances that we can expect the Z07s engine to drop the high-revving, naturally aspirated awesomeness to keep the political fuel economy mising bean counters quiet in favor of more efficient forced induction. And of course, expect the use of GM/Tremec’s latest seven-speed manual.
