Rumors have been floating around that Infiniti is working on a brand-defining halo supercar for the near future. And to better bolster these rumors is the fact that Sebastian Vettel is officially a part of Infiniti, while confirming that he will be contributing his input into the design and engineering of future Infiniti models. What else screams, “hey, we’re serious about making performance cars” than hiring a renown Formula 1 driver to spearhead future performance research and development?
And to follow up with a development on this said supercar, AutoCarUK has apparently learned that it is really in the works and a launch sometime in 2017 or 2018 is expected. Though at this point in time, the fate of its progression lies in the brand’s indecision to make the car either front- or mid-engined.
“We are still evaluating the layout,” Fintan Knight told AutoCarUK ,Infiniti’s European head honcho. “It is still on the table for a decision. The same goes for the powertrain.”
Not much else was shared, but Infiniti is seriously stepping up their game to compete against the Germans if they’re on the road to producing a bonafide halo sports car.
