Edmunds reports that Chevrolet may be expanding its SUV lineup within the next year by reviving the Trailblazer nameplate. Originally, a spokesman for Chevrolet told Edmunds that the automaker has no plans to expand the SUV and crossover offerings.
Though after speaking with an “industry source,” word is that Chevrolet could introduce a new Trailblazer that’s based off of the Asian-market only Trailblazer currently on sale.
That Trailblazer happens to be a seven-seater crossover—a market segment which is seeing significant growth as time goes by. It began production last year in a variety of foreign markets, except for Chevrolet’s own domestic turf.
This said foreign market Trailblazer is a rear-wheel drive model with all-wheel drive as optional. A timeframe wasn’t specified, but pointers suggest that a new Trailblazer could be seen in the US by 2014.
