Report: Mercedes-Benz GLA to see the light of day at Frankfurt, sales to begin in 2014

Mercedes-Benz will be revealing its Audi Q3 and BMW X1 compact crossover, dubbed the GLA, at this year’s 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, while production is expected to commence in early 2014 with a production launch date around the same time.

Of course, it will be based off of the Mercedes Concept GLA, which first saw the light of day at the Shanghai Motor Show earlier this year. It utilized a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline four-banger good for 208hp driving all four-wheels and an all-new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic. The recipe is expected to be somewhat similar, with a range of four-cylinders taken from the A-Class, driving either the front or all four wheels via Mercedes’ patented 4MATIC.

The prices are expected to start around £25,370 in the UK market, or around $39,321 US. No word on a US-bound version has been spared, but a range-topping performance Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG is expected, donning the same setup as the current A45 AMG.
