Report: 2015 Volkswagen TDI models to get new updated four-cylinder

Oil burner lovers would be happy to hear that Volkswagen will be introducing a new and updated EA288 2.0L TDI turbo Clean Diesel four-banger for the 2015 Golf, Beetle, Passat, and Jetta, Edmunds learned from a statement. The engine will also replace various Audi diesels as well.

Said to debut in the second half of 2014, the new diesel is predicted to return 45-46 mpg on the highway, or around an eight percent increase. It will also get a modest power boost of 10hp, while being cleaner, and more fuel efficient.

As of now, comparatively speaking, the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta TDI with the current 2.0L four-banger is rated at 30/42 city/highway mpg.
