Report: 2014 Jeep Cherokee media launch delayed as Chrysler tweaks ECU programming

The all-new 2014 Jeep Cherokee revival has been off to a rough start as is, with mixed (mainly negative) feedback surrounding its newfound aesthetics. And to feed the fire, AutomotiveNews reports Chrysler will be delaying the media introduction to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee by a month in order to make last-minute software changes to the car’s engine control unit.

The engines available for the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee start at an all-new 2.4L four-banger with an optional 3.2L Pentastar V6 available. Both are mated to ZF’s latest nine-speed automatic transmission.

Production of the 2014 Jeep Cherokee was set to begin in May, but was delayed until late June, according to Jeep’s brand manager, Mike Manley. Chrysler promises that the Cherokee is still on track to launch in local showrooms this September.
