Report: Jaguar wants to expand its offerings with a whole new family of affordable models

Reuters reports that Jaguar expresses desire to expand their lineup even more admist their current plans to introduce an affordable compact saloon (a la BMW 3-Series fighter) and their much-rumored crossover SUV. This comes after Jaguar has noticed a trend with its corporate sister, Land Rover, where LR’s cheaper models seem to be flying off of the shelves. And to capture that sales momentum, Jaguar wants to expand their lineup.

As of now, the Jaguar compact sedan and the crossover SUV have a projected launch date in the second half of 2015, according to “inside sources.”

The plan according to the report is that Jaguar will introduce an entire family of “more affordable Jaguars.” This suggests the use of a modular platform, which may see duty in Land Rover’s lineup, providing a starting point for a variety of potential new “affordable” models for both brands.
