Report: Honda wants Acura to produce models in China by 2016

China took the trophy a long time ago as the world’s largest automotive market simply because it has emerged so quickly within the last decade. As a result, it shouldn’t be news that automakers have been focusing a lot of their efforts on the most populous country in the world as it represents the most potential capital.

Honda reportedly confirmed an agreement with Guangzhou Automobile Group Co. last Thursday saying the two companies came to a cooperative production agreement. The first model to be built upon this agreement is Acura’s anticipated production crossover SUV based on the recent Acura SUV-X Concept, which debuted this past April at the Shanghai Auto Show. It will be produced at the new China-based plant for three years following the reveal.
