Report: BMW to price much-anticipated i3 city car between $35,000-$40,000 in the US

Our friends over at AutoBlog were able to get a little hint on pricing details for BMW’s much-anticipated i3 city car, which should over between $35,000-$40,000 US. After speaking to a supposed source within BMW, the BMW i3 plug-in will start around $34,500.

Deliveries in Germany’s domestic and nearby markets will begin later this year in November with the all-electric version good for 168hp and 184 lb-ft of torque being the introductory model. The i3 will be later offered with a range-extending two-cylinder engine supplied by BMW’s motorcycle division, mated to the standard all-electric i3’s electric motor.

That will supposedly cost an extra $2,000 for customers in the US, though range for the BMW i3 will supposedly be doubled. A hybrid version will also follow shortly afterwards.
