Word in the pipeline via AutoExpressUK is that Jaguar will be introducing a top-spec high-performance edition of its latest F-Type sports car to tighten the model’s aim directly that the Porsche 911. This particular version, supposedly dubbed the F-Type R-S Coupe, will go specifically against the Porsche 911 Turbo S model.

What’s apparently in the works? While the current Type 991 Porsche 911 Turbo S dons 553hp from its turbocharged flat-six motor, the Jaguar will reportedly churn out a whopping 700hp and will be capable of well over 200 mph.

Though the power supposedly won’t come from a traditional supercharged Jaguar V8, but rather will potentially use technology showcased in the 900hp C-X75 hybrid supercar. The result could possibly be a supercharged 1.6L four-banger mated to multiple electric motors for a total output of 700hp.

A release date is expected sometime in 2016 as the standard F-Type Coupe comes to fruition by 2014.
