Porsche’s much anticipated Macan SUV is ready to take the automotive world by storm as AutoExpressUK reports that it will have a starting price of around £36,000 in the British market. It is also expected to begin sales by spring of 2014.
Set for a worldwide debut at this year’s Los Angeles Auto Show in November, the Macan will be built on the same modular MLB platform that underpins the Audi Q5, though with more extensive use of aluminum. That translates to a weight reduction of around 130kg over the Q5.
The Porsche Macan will be built exclusively with four-wheel drive with a range of six-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines. Four-bangers are said to be in the mix for the not-so distant future afterwards.
Like Porsche’s other SUV lineup, the Cayenne, the Macan will follow in terms of trim levels with an S and Hybrid version in the mix. Though AutoExpressUK says that we could expect the Macan to be more limited in its choices.
