Report: Rolls-Royce plans Wraith-based convertible, interest in SUV dwindles

AutoCarUK reports that Rolls-Royce’s next model has been confirmed to be a convertible based on the Wraith. Word reportedly came from Rolls-Royce’s CEO, Torsten Muller-Otvos, who also reportedly stated that the brand’s interest in producing an SUV are dwindling.

The reason for the decline in desire to produce an SUV is apparently due to the fact that Rolls isn’t confident that an SUV will reflect the driving characteristics of “a truce Rolls-Royce.” However, Muller-Otvos said that they’re keeping their options and their mind open.

The anticipated Rolls convertible on the other hand is reportedly the priority with the goal of making the Wraith coupe and convertible the most powerful production Rolls-Royces ever built.

The addition of a convertible based on the Wraith will boost sales of the Wraith line by at least 1,200-1,500 units. Though despite the increase, Muller-Otvos promised that no outsourcing will occur and that all models will be built at home base in Goodwood.
