WorldCarFans reports that BMW is seeking to pull a Toyota-like move by introducing a new entry-level sub-brand specifically for China. The collaboration will occur with China’s own Brilliance Automotive and will reportedly be called Zinoro.
The first Zinoro model is said to be set for a launch by early 2014, beginning with an all-electric vehicle that was described to offer the “highest quality.” The tip supposedly came from some leaked internal documents.
The models will be produced at BMW-Brillance’s new plant in Shenyang, China. A small crossover based on the BMW X1 is also expected to be in the works.
Not much else is known. Additionally, there’s no indication that this new Zinoro brand will be making their way outside the Chinese domestic market. Either way, a debut is expected at this year’s Guangzhou Motor Show in November.
