Though since the debut of the new Corvette Stingray at this year’s North American International Auto Show, Chevrolet and GM execs have remained quiet about the Corvette convertible period.

Camouflaged prototypes have been caught on camera and there’s not really not much doubt about a convertible version either. So it’s safe to assume that the new Corvette convertible will don the same kit as the coupe. That means a 6.2L LT1 V8 good for 450hp with the choice of a seven-speed manual or six-speed automatic.

The last generation C6 Corvette convertible made its world debut at Geneva as well in March of 2004. That said, it’s safe to expect the same this year.
