2013 Detroit: 2014 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG gets the spotlight on the Cobo Center floor

One of the latest debuts showing off its sheetmetal and kit for the 2013 model year is the new Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

For the 2014 model year, the new E63 AMG drops its former naturally aspirated 6.2L V8 in favor of an all-new 5.5L twin-turbo version, good for 550hp and 531 lb-ft of torque versus the old 6.2L’s ratings of 518hp and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Channeling that power is AMG’s in-house seven-speed AMG Speedshift transmission and for the first time ever, Mercedes-Benz’s 4MATIC all-wheel drive system is available for the hottest AMG E-Class money can buy.
