2013 Detroit: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee gets diesel, new looks and upgraded interior

Jeep released its face lifted 2014 Grand Cherokee at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show today. Changes to the latest Cherokee can be found with performance, as well and inside and outside.

“With the new 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, we have taken the industry’s most highly acclaimed SUV and elevated it to an even higher level,” said Mike Manley, President and CEO — Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Jeep has proudly separated Grand Cherokee even further from its competitors by enhancing its unique elegance, efficiency, capability and technological features. Consumers will clearly find the new Jeep Grand Cherokee to be even more of a pleasure to drive – on any and all roads, on the most demanding trails, and in all weather conditions.”

Performance has been upgraded with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters The new transmission will be for all engine offerings, including the latest 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. The new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 boasts a driving range of more than 730 miles and an output of 240-hp with 420 lb-ft of torque. The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 continues going with a 6.4 liter V8 making 470-hp.

On the outside the SUV gets a fresh set of headlights, a toned-down grille, updated bumper, new tail gate and LED tail lamps.

For the interior, Jeep redesigned the center stack, folding a new set of available touchscreens in either 5-inch or 8-inch sizes, and new HVAC controls. A new instrument cluster with a 7-inch color screen that displays vehicle information is features, as well as a new transmission lever and steering wheel.
