GM to differentiate interiors on next-generation full-size SUVs
It’s about time! General Motors has decided that the interiors of its next-generation full-size SUVs will be different for each model. Currently, the Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and the Cadillac Escalade share a very similar interior (if not the same exact interior).
“In the past we shared SUV and (pickup) truck interiors. That is not the case going forward,” said Chris Hilts, creative manager of interior design at General Motors.
Hilts said that the next-generation models will have their very own instrument panels, consoles, instrumentation, center stacks, knobs and materials.
Hilts said the reason behind this (besides the most obvious ones) is that SUV buyers want more refinement in their vehicles and that GM wants to further separate its three top brands – Chevrolet, Cadillac and GMC.
