FoMoCo has announced that its sales topped 2 million in the United States in 2012 – making it the only automotive brand in America to do so last year.
Ford also said that its Focus is on track to become the best-selling global name plate, while the Fiesta subcompact is not too far behind. Globally, Ford saw 737,856 registrations for the Focus through September and 560,061 registration for the Fiesta.
“Focus and Fiesta represent the best of our One Ford plan,” said Jim Farley, Ford’s executive vice president, Global Marketing, Sales and Service and Lincoln. “In just three years, Ford has transformed our global small car lineup and started winning over customers worldwide with vehicles that are not only fun-to-drive but also fuel-efficient – largely thanks to our award-winning EcoBoost engines.”
As far as EcoBoost goes, Ford said that it is on track to sell more than 520,000 EcoBoost-powered cars by the end of the year since its introduction in 2009.
