Report: Fisker CEO says partnership with other automakers coming 2013

Fisker Automotive’s CEO Tony Posawatz (the former chief engineer of the Chevrolet Volt), says that the plug-in hybrid automaker is on its way to partner with other automakers next year. The reason? Posawatz says that the pitfalls facing independent small automakers is driving the decision.

Fisker said that the company is talks with three potential deals where high-level execs are ‘talking specifics.’

“We are absolutely committed to making this company win longer term, and the history of smaller companies living on their own in the automotive business is not stellar,” Posawatz says. “We are not going to go it alone.”

He said a deal could be agreed and completed within the next year.
