Report: Next-generation BMW 7 Series could drop V12 engine

Earlier this year, BMW celebrated the 25th anniversary of its V12 engine with the 2013 760Li V12 25 Anniversary Edition. The special edition model is powered by a 6.0 liter twin-turbo V12 making 535-hp and 550 lb-ft of torque.

Well, it seems like that after 25 years, the V12 engine may be on its way out. In an interview with CarAdvice, BMW Australia product and pricing manager Christoph Priemel said that BMW is looking whether or not to keep the V12 engine – however, nothing has been decided yet.

However, Priemel said that there will always be a market for the engine because the 760 is “definitely a special car.”
