2012 LA: Smart ForJeremy Concept will enter limited production in 2013

I just returned from a party held in Hollywood on the eve of the 2012 LA Auto Show by Smart. That’s right – Mercedes-Benz’s Smart brand had something exciting planned for us upon our arrival to the City of Angeles at the Jim Henson Studios in Los Angeles, with music provided by the artist M.I.A.

So what was all the hype about? This – a Smart car with wings. Known as the Smart ForJeremy Concept, the model is a collaboration between Smart and internationally renowned fashion designer Jeremy Scott.

“We were totally enthusiastic about the first sketches that Jeremy presented to us”, said Dr. Annette Winkler, Head of smart, during the world premiere. “Both smart and the wings represent a bit of freedom on the crowded streets of major cities. In their respective disciplines, both the fashion designer Jeremy Scott and the smart brand are pioneering trendsetters, venturing into uncharted territories and challenging the status quo.”

The Smart ForJeremy takes on electric-mobility and pitches it to the younger generation with extreme things like the wings you see in the pictures along with an outstanding luxurious interior with great attention to detail.

The smart ForJeremy is based on the fortwo electric drive so that means it has a 55 kW electric motor that allows for a 0 to 60 mph time of 11.5 seconds with a top speed of 78 mph. While that may not be that fast, you’ll still look young and funky driving one. Driving one? “Wait, I can purchase this” you ask? Yes – the Smart ForJeremy will be launched in 2013 as a limited special edition model.
