2012 LA: 2014 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series zooms in with 622-hp

Mercedes-AMG debuted its 2014 SLS AMG Black Series today at the 2012 LA Auto Show as the fifth in the AMG’s series.

Based on the SLS AMG GT3 racecar, the model takes on AMG Lightweight Performance specifications, weighing in at 3,417 lbs.

It gets 622hp at 7,400 rpm and 468 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm from a 6.3-liter AMG V8 and hits a 3.5 second 0-60 mph time with speeds topping out at 196 mph.

New standard performance features include an increased rev limit of 8,000 rpm, a wider track by 0.8” up front and 0.9” in the rear, revised power steering, AMG Adaptive Performance Suspension, AMG high-performance two-piece ceramic brakes and a modified AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission.

Also new as standard is a set of 10-spoke matte black forged alloy wheels and a titanium exhaust system.

Some new optional equipment has been folded in as well, including AMG carbon-fiber components for both the interior and exterior, polished rims for the matte black wheels, an aerodynamics package and a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround sound system.
