Report: BMW X4 to debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show

BMW X6 Shrunk

Earlier this year, BMW’s chairman Norbert Reithofer confirmed that the company has plans to produce the BMW X4, a baby version of the BMW X6. According to AutoWeek, the BMW X4 is now set to make its concept (close to production) debut at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show in January.

Sales in North America are expected to start in early 2014 with a starting price tag of $42,000.

While most of the X4 will be based on the X3, including the engine lineup, design wise the model will differ visually from the X3 SUV.

Production of the BMW X4 will take place at the company’s Spartanburg plant where the automaker has invested an extra $900 million.
