2013 Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport gets top speed of 170 mph

While we were somewhat lucky to get the Buick Regal GS, a version of the Opel Insignia OPC/Vauxhall Insignia VXR, we were pretty upset that GM decided to swap out the powerful V6 in the Euro version with a turbo 4-banger.

Now to rub it in our faces even more, Vauxhall has announced the new Insignia VXR SuperSport. What this is basically a replacement for the Insignia VXR, with a top speed of 170 mph – 15 mph more than its predecessor.

Power still comes from a 2.8-liter V6 Turbo ECOTEC engine, with a micro-alloy forged steel crank, classic 60-degree cylinder angle and die-cast alloy sump. The engine produces a total of 320-hp allowing the Vauxhall Insignia VXR SuperSport to go from 0 to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds.
