Ford offering its 1940 Coupe’s steel body shell
Ford is digging into the past for Sema this year with the release of the 1940 Ford Coupe body shell. At the show, it has been revealed as a custom-built hot rod.
While the styling is exact to the original model, Ford used current welding techniques and high-strength steel to construct the shells.
“The 1940 Ford Coupe has always been highly sought after and collectible,” says Dennis Mondrach, Ford Restoration Parts licensing manager. “Unfortunately, good, solid restorable examples have become hard to find and expensive, so this faithful reproduction is bound to prove popular.”
The complete body shell for the 1940 Coupe comes with plenty of trim and mechanical restoration parts available for order and pricing starts at $11,900 plus shipping.
Sounds like the hot rod fan’s dream come true considering the rarity of available models and the high price tags they come with.
