We haven’t heard about Jaguar’s BMW 3 Series competitor for quite some time but a source has told AutoExpress that the long-awaited rival is still on track. The source also said that it is working on a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
“Look at the 2.2-litre diesel and look at engines like the new 2.0-litre turbo gasoline and you can see we’ve got the powertrain platform already for a smaller car,” the source told the publication.
The sedan will sit below the XF and will be offered in a choice of rear and all-wheel-drive options.
Along with the sedan, the model will spawn a station-wagon and a crossover.
