Porsche is making sure that future buyers know that the upcoming Macan crossover will be totally different from the Audi Q5 on which it is based.
Porsche doesn’t want its customers thinking that the new Macan will just be a rebadged Q5.
According to Wolfgang Hatz, Porsche’s R&D chief, the Macan is “not a Q5 with a Porsche hat on.” Everything has been modified. Engines, transmissions, suspension — it’s all new. Audi can’t believe what we’ve done.”
Hatz said that Audi shouldn’t be afraid to lost any customers since the Macan appeals to a totally differnet crowd.
