Volkswagen Touareg X celebrates model’s 10th birthday

Ten years after its 2002 Paris Motor Show debut, Volkswagen has created a special edition of the Touareg with the Special Edition X, to celebrate the model’s 10th birthday.

The limited edition X, as in 10 in Roman numerals, gets special touches and packages both inside and out. The ‘Chrome & Style’ package offers ‘Touareg X’ badging on the windows, and tints the side and rear windows.

Exterior modifications otherwise include a coat of ‘Moonlight Blue Pearl Effect’, and a set of 19-inch ‘Moab’ alloy wheels.

On the inside, the X gets amber brown Nappa leather trim with a unique embossed finish, color-coordinated decorative stitching on the gear lever gaiter, steering wheels and floor mats, ebony inlays and illuminated door sills.

The European markets gets five engine and transmission combinations to choose from, starting at $78,553 for the TDI BlueMotion Technology powered by a 201hp V6 mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Although it’s nicely done, this seems like an even pricier version of an already lavishly priced model.
