Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary is for the collectors

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled a special-edition SLS AMG for racers today. Known as the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary Edition, the car is being revealed as a part of an exclusive series which is aimed at car collectors with a particular penchant for motor racing.

“The customer sport racing car is being built by hand in a limited edition of no more than five vehicles in Affalterbach,” Mercedes-Benz said in a statement. “Record DTM champion and AMG brand ambassador Bernd Schneider is involved hands-on in the production process, installing the AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine in the SLS AMG GT3 ’45th ANNIVERSARY’ together with an AMG engine fitter.”

The SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary model receives a bunch of exterior and interior modification including new designo magno graphite matt paint finish, AMG light-alloy wheels in designo magno graphite, ’45 Years of Driving Performance’ logo framed in silver on the GT3 racing car’s gullwing doors and carbon fiber doors, bonnet, mudguards, boot lid, rear wings, front and rear apron, front splitter and rear diffusor.

On the inside, the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary model gets a steel roll-over cage finished in matt designo magno graphite to match the exterior, a matte carbon finish on the center console and 6-point seat belts and a steering wheel spider in silver.

Those who pay close to $600,000 price tag will get to pick-up their SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary at Mercedes-AMG in Affalterbach. As a part of the package, buyers will also get a tour of the factory and a visit to the AMG engine ‘Manufaktur’ (hand-finishing section).
