Report: Koenigsegg launches Agera R in US

Aside from all of the commotion from the 2012 Paris Auto Show, Koenigsegg reportedly announced that their Agera R has recently been officially launched in the United States.

Of course powering Koenigsegg’s latest hypercar is their own in-house bred 5.0L twin-turbo V8, which allows the Koenigsegg to hit 62mpg in just 2.9 seconds, for a top run of 240 mph.

Weighing in at just 2,932lbs, the Koenigsegg Agera R also sports one of the highest power-to-weight ratios in the industry at 790hp per ton. The original Bugatti Veyron 16.4 only had a 440hp per ton.

Pricing hasn’t been announced. But we wouldn’t expect this kind of power to be cheap by any means.

Either way, check out this sexy thing of a hypercar in our gallery.

Refresher: Power for the Koenigsegg Agera R comes from a 5.0L twin-turbo V8 producing 1,115-hp and a maximum torque of 885 lb-ft on E85 fuel. If you fill the tank with 95-octange gasoline instead of E85 biofuel, you’ll only get 940-hp and 811 lb-ft of torque. The Koenigsegg Agera R goes from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 240 mph.
