2012 Paris: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive is the fastest gullwing ever

Mercedes-Benz is taking electric sports car to a whole new level at the 2012 Paris Motor Show with the debut of the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive.

Power comes from a total of four synchronous electric motors providing a combined output of 740-hp and maximum torque of 737 lb-ft. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph. Total driving range on a full charge comes in at a little more than 150 miles.

The AMG Torque Dynamics feature gives you the option of three different driving modes including:

  • Comfort (C): comfortable, forgiving driving characteristics
  • Sport (S): sporty, balanced driving characteristics
  • Sport plus (S+): sporty, agile driving characteristics

The Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive will be launching in 2013 with prices starting at 416,500 Euros ($579,419 USD)Β in Germany. Official U.S. pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.
