2012 Paris: Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept unveiled, shows design of future model
Remember all those reports about Porsche working on a wagon variant of the Panamera? Turns out they were true. At the 2012 Paris Motor Show today, Porsche unveiled the new Panamera Sport Turismo Concept, which the company says “shows how amazingly intelligent and efficient drive technology might look in the design language of tomorrow.”
While the concept may showcase the green technologies Porsche is working on the body, Porsche says, “is an outlook on a possible Porsche sports car of tomorrow.” In my opinion, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept is much better looking than its ‘sedan’ counterpart – especially in the Liquid Metal Blue color that it is debuting in.
Power for the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept comes from a plug-in hybrid system setup that the company calls ‘e-hybrid.’ Working together the system produces a total of 416-hp, can drive in pure electric mode up to a speed of 80 mph and can cover a distance of over 18 miles. 0 to 62 mph comes in less than 6 seconds.
As a plug-in hybrid model, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept can be fully charged in 2.5 hours (depending on the output of your outlet).
When will we see a production version of the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo Concept on the roads? No official word from the brand yet. Stay tuned.
