Report: Porsche expects to sell 75,000 units of the Macan in first year of production

When Porsche released the first details of the upcoming compact Macan crossover, it projected first year sales to come in around 45,000. Well, the German automaker is now increasing its initial projection and expects to sell 75,000 units in the first year of production in 2013.

POrsche’s procurement chief, Uwe-Karsten Staedter, has reportedly informed suppliers that production at its Leipzig factory will be ramped up to 75,000 by the end of next year.

The Porsche Macan will be the automaker’s fifth model in its lineup.

The entry-level model is expected to be powered by a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder unit making 220-hp. The Porsche Macan S is expected to be powered by a 370-hp 3.6 liter V6 while the Porsche Macan Turbo is expected to carry a 400-hp twin-turbo V6.
