Report: Bentley considering armored vehicles for certain markets

It seems the richer you get the more you’re concerned with your safety – of course that doesn’t mean you’re going to go out there and travel in a Brinks Armored Truck. No, you want to travel in style, luxury and fashion and spend your hard earned money on an exclusive and expensive vehicle.

Well, you would then be looking at armored versions of BMWs and Mercedes-Benzs. It seems other automakers are now starting to catch on and rumor has it that Bentley is considering launching armor-plated car range as customers in regions like Latin America, Middle East and Russia request the comfort of bulletproof.

Speaking of Latin America, Jan-Henrik Lafrentz, Bentley’s finance chief, said “We are growing in more and more markets there. For these markets, security is an issue. We are looking at the business case of doing armoured cars.

“There is also demand from Russia and the Middle East,” he said. “We cannot do this for just one country. There are other countries where there is need for this.”
