Report: More details on refreshed Z4 plus M-Performance version, still pegged for Detroit debut

Enthusiasts have been sad over the absence of a M-derived Z4, which had established itself in the premium performance compact roadster segment in the Z4’s last generation. But to make up for it, AutoCarUK reports that BMW has been listening…sort of.

AutoCarUK reportedly discovered that the current generation Z4 will be receiving a mid-cycle refresh, which is due for a January debut at the next Detroit Motor Show. Along that, an M-Performance line of the Z4 will also be launched, which will replace the current Z4 sDrive35iS. It’ll be referred to as the Z4 M35i Performance model and will use the same superb 3.0L turbocharged inline-six as the M135i hatchback.

The exhaust will be retuned along with the suspension, and the steering. To add, the Z4 will also receive a variety of visual and aesthetic upgrades in general such as softly reprofiled bumpers, and different head and tail lamps.
