Late last week, just before the 2012 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Cadillac marketing VP Don Butler revealed plans for the company to introduce a production vernon of the ELR plug-in hybrid at next year’s show.

Check out more news on the Cadillac ELR.

The ELR will be followed by a new CTS and a new Escalade.

At the 2012 Beijing Motor Show in April, Cadillac confirmed that the model will be sold in China, the brand’s second largest market after the United States.

The Cadillac ELR features an electric propulsion system made up of a T-shaped lithium-ion battery, an electric drive unit and a 4-cylinder engine-generator. When the battery runs out, the ELR seamlessly switches to extended-range mode to enable driving for hundreds of additional miles.

I tested the CTS V and it seemed to me the horses were smaller than those in Europe or Japan as it didn’t seem to have anywhere near the claimed 500+. More like 250-300. Very disappointed.
