Report: Ford says Fiesta is important to the brand even though sales are down 25%

Ford says that even though U.S. sales of the Fiesta subcompact have dropped 25 percent this year, the model will remain an important part of the Dearborn automaker’s lineup. Sales of the Ford Fiesta fell to 35,385 units in the U.S. through July. But at the same time sales of the Focus have jumped 31 percent to 147,877 units during the same period.

“The small-car segment, given its size, the largest in the industry, is large enough for two vehicles,” said Erich Merkle, Ford’s U.S. sales analyst.

The Fiesta still remains Ford’s second-best selling vehicle on a global level.

Hey Ford – maybe bringing the Ford Fiesta ST here would help.
