Report: Lincoln doesn’t care for flagships or halos, working on compact crossover

Even until today I’m not sure what FoMoCo has planned for the Lincoln brand. According to a report by Automotive News, Lincoln ranks well below Infiniti and just above Toyota’s Scion.

Apparently, word has it that Lincoln doesn’t want to waste money and energy on segments in which the return will be small. When it comes to future vehicles, less is more. That means Lincoln has no plans to offer high-end halo cars or low-volume flagship car.

Instead, the brand will focus on a limited lineup with high-volume.

Insiders say that Lincoln will enter the compact luxury crossover brand in another year so with a vehicle based on the Ford Escape. The model is internally known as the MKC. That model will be followed by redesigns of the MKX, MKT, MKS and the Navigator.
