Audi purchases rare 1939 Union Type D
Audi has announced that it was able to repurchase a very rare Auto Union Silver Arrow racing car consisting largely of original parts.
“This is one of the most emotional moments in our heritage work for AUDI AG – we have come full circle,” says Thomas Frank, Head of AudiTradition.
Known as the Auto Union twin-supercharger Type D dating, the 1939 model year car was one of the two legendary ‘Karassik cars’. AUDI AG now owns three of the five Auto Union original racing cars.
In 1998, Audi purchased the 1938 specification car. Besides these two cars, Audi also has a Type C which was previously returned.
