SSC Ultimate Aero getting proper send off with special-edition XT model

What’s the first car that comes to mind when you here the phrase ‘fastest car in the world.’ If you said the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport you’d be somewhat right, at this current point in time. But before the Veyron Super Sport made its debut the title of the fastest car in the world was held by SSC North America’s Ultimate Aero.

The car is now being discontinued to make room for the company’s next model, the Tuatara. But before its completely done, SSC has planned to give it a special-edition send of with the Ultimate Aero XT.

Power for the SSC Ultimate Aero XT comes from a 6.9 liter twin-turbo V8 making 1,300-hp and 1,004 lb-ft of torque. 0 to 62 mph comes in just 2.65 seconds with a top speed of 273 mph. The engine is mated to a 7-speed gearbox with paddle shifters.

The SSC Ultimate Aero XT will be limited to just 5 units. No pricing info was released but expect it to be pretty up there.
