Nissan has finally unveiled the all-new 2013 Pathfinder with a complete redesign, a luxurious interior and a bunch of technology packaged into a new unibody platform.

“Unveiling our next-generation Pathfinder is a major follow-up to the introduction of the all-new Altima sedan,” said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.  “With its bold new design, best-in-class fuel economy and family adventure capabilities, our dealers can’t wait to share this new model with customers in their showrooms.”

Nissan says that the 2013 Pathfinder’s off-loading capabilities are maintained even though the model is built on a unibody platform. Power comes from a 3.5 liter V6 engine making 260-hp mated to a CVT transmission that improves fuel-economy.

Fuel-economy comes in at 19/25 mpg (city/highway) and 21 combined for the 4WD model and 20/26 mpg and 22 mpg combed for the FWD model. Those are pretty impressive figures and expected since the Pathfinder did drop 500 pounds from the outgoing model.

However, one thing was sacrificed in all this unibody packing and weight savings – towing capability. While last year’s V8 m0del was able to pull 7,000 pounds the 2013 Nissan Pathfinder tugs 5,000 pounds.

The 2013 Nissan Pathfinder will go on sale this fall nationwide. Prices will be announced closer to launch.

IMHO the overall improvements done to the 2013 Pathfinder far out way the lost in towing capacity.
Going unibody and with the 3.5 V6 is a good combo.CVT……..not too sure on this one but given the need for improved MPG’s I consider it a necessary evil.
