The new Nissan GT-R may be a one-hit wonder. According to sources close the Nissan GT-R project, CEO Carlos Ghosn as not given the thumbs-up to go-ahead and design and produce the next iteration of the car and he may never give the green light.

Previously, there have been reports that the next-genertion GT-R would have a hybrid powertrain to fare well when being criticized by tree huggers. It was reportedly scheduled for a 2014 launch.

According to sources that spoke with Inside Line, development on the next-gneraton Nissan GT-R hasn’t even started yet.

Of course, when contacted for more info, Nissan’s spokespeople had no comment.
