Report: BMW 1 Series sedan coming to the U.S. in 2015, will eventually shift to FWD platform

Currently in the United States, BMW offers the 1 Series Coupe and Convertible – three-door and 5-door hatch versions of the model are sold in other parts of the world. Sources now say that BMW is planning for a 1 Series Sedan for the U.S. market by 2015.

The model is being planned to compete with the upcoming Audi A3 sedan and the Mercedes-Benz CLA.

Insides say that since the new 3 Series has grown in size, there is now room for a 1 Series sedan.

Separately, another inside states that the 1-Series will eventually go FWD when it is redesign in 8 years.
