Report: More pictures and official details on 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake

Following the picture leak last week, Mercedes-Benz had decided to unveil the AMG version of the CLS Shooting Brake, the CLS63 AMG, which just debuted a short week ago. And of course, the recipe is no different than expected.

Powering this rampant leviathan is Mercedes-Benz AMG’s new standard 5.5L twin-turbocharged V8 good for 518hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a secen-speed automatic, which the Stuttgart brand calls “MCT,” the new transmission utilizes a set of clutches rather than a traditional torque converter, allowing for less drivetrain loss and faster shifting.

Should the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake’s standard power ratings not be sufficient for the power hungry family man, Mercedes-Benz also offers a Performance pack that hikes those numbers to 550hp and 590 lb-ft of torque.

Additionally, a new “Edition 1” package is available with the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake, which includes the Performance pack, and a special selection of unique interior and exterior color combinations along with a choice of various wood finishes.

Mercedes-Benz haven’t disclosed how much the CLS63 AMG Shooting Brake will be, but we couldn’t imagine it to be on the cheap side by any stretch. Either way, anyone on North American shores who dig this German hot rod of a mumsy wagon will be disappointed to hear that the CLS63 Shooting Brake is still not for US.
