Along with the updated and quicker upgrade to the McLaren MP4-12C, the McLaren Automotive announced today that it will debut the drop-top 12C Spider at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Power will come from the upgraded twin-turbo V8, which is now good for pumping out 616-hp. 0 to 60 mph, like the coupe, should come in just 3 seconds.

“The 12C Spider is built on the same groundbreaking carbon fiber MonoCell chassis as the coupe,” McLaren said in a statement. “With all of the advanced technology from the 12C coupe incorporated into the 12C Spider it will be just as dynamic as the coupe to drive.”

The McLaren MP4-12C Spider will be unveiled to the world on July 3, 2012. Stay tuned.
