Report: BMW ends fuel-cell cooperation with General Motors

BMW Hydrogen Fuel-Cell

According to Alexander Bilgeri, a spokesman for BMW AG, the German automaker has called it quotes on its cooperation with General Motors on fuel-cell powertrains for future vehicles.

“We are still talking to GM, but no longer on the topic of fuel cells,” Bilgeri said.

BMW instead will expand its partnership with Toyota to build fuel-cell vehicles and components for electric-cars.

“We have business relationships with many different manufacturers and regularly explore potential forms of cooperations,” said Marc Kempe, a spokesman for GM in Europe. “There is nothing to announce with regards to BMW.”
